Na de smeekbedes van een groep jonge uitdagers en Skyla’s opa, accepteert Skyla de Gym Gevecht uitdaging van Ash. Hoewel Skyla er van overtuigd is dat ze gaat winnen (nadat ze zich heeft ingebeeld wat de Pokémon van Ash zullen doen), denkt Ash daar heel anders over… De drie-tegen-drie match begint met Ash’s Krokorok tegen Skyla’s Swoobat. Maar Swoobat’s luchtaanvallen zijn te heftig voor Krokorok en Ash verliest een Pokémon. Daarna kiest Ash Tranquill en wordt het een Vliegende soort tegen een Vliegende soort. Hoewel ze even sterk lijken, wint Tranquill door zijn snelheid en ook omdat Swoobat iets zwakker is omdat hij al een keer heeft gevochten. Skyla roept haar Unfezant en Ash ruilt Tranquill in voor Pikachu, die Unfezant verslaat met een krachtige Elektrobal.
Als Skyla haar Swanna roept, zijn onze helden geschokt als ze zien dat Pikachu’s Elektrische aanvallen geen enkel effect hebben en Pikachu verzwakt moet opgeven.
Maar het gevecht is nog niet voorbij en Ash haalt zijn Tranquill terug. Maar als Swanna het Tranquill moeilijk maakt, evolueert hij plotseling in Unfezant! En er ontstaat een heftig gevecht tussen de Vliegende soorten. Maar Unfezant’s nieuwe zetten blijken te krachtig voor Swanna en Unfezant wint en Ash is de winnaar van de match!
Nadat Ash de Jet Badge van Skyla ( die belooft nooit meer Luchtgevechten te houden) ontvangt vertelt Skyla aan Ash dat de dichtstbijzijnde Gym in Icirrus City ligt. Nu heeft Ash nog maar twee Unova Gym Badges nodig om aan de Unova League mee te mogen doen!
