ไกอัส มาร์ติอุส หรือที่รู้จักกันในชื่อโคริโอลานัส เป็นนายพลผู้หยิ่งผยองและน่าเกรงขามซึ่งสร้างอาชีพจากการปกป้องกรุงโรมจากศัตรู โคริโอลานัสถูกผลักดันจากมารดาผู้ทะเยอทะยานให้ดำรงตำแหน่งกงสุล ซึ่งทำให้เขามีความขัดแย้งกับประชาชนและไม่เป็นที่นิยมในหมู่เพื่อนร่วมงานบางคน เมื่อเกิดจลาจลทำให้เขาถูกขับไล่ออกจากกรุงโรม โคริโอลานัสจึงออกตามล่าศัตรูตัวฉกาจของเขา ทูลลัส ออฟิดิอุส ทั้งคู่สาบานร่วมกันว่าจะทำลายเมืองใหญ่แห่งนี้

พวกที่มีพลังพิเศษแบ่งออกเป็น 2 ประเภท คือ ด้านมืด กับด้านสว่าง ด้านมืดมีชื่อว่า Day Watch ส่วนพวกด้านสว่างมีชื่อว่า Night Watch มีสงครามกันมาแต่อดีต รบกันอย่างไม่สิ้นสุด ผลสุดท้ายหัวหน้าแต่ละฝ่ายได้ตกลงทำสัญญาสงบศึกกัน แต่ในปัจจุบัน พวก Day Watch ส่วนมากจะเป็นแวมไพร์ต้องดื่มเลือด แต่ข้อห้ามก็คือห้ามดื่มเลือดมนุษย์ ต้องกินเลือดหมูแทน พวก Night Watch จะล่าพวก Day Watch ที่ฝ่าฝืนกฏคือกินเลือดมนุษย์ (ล่าเฉพาะกลางคืน) ส่วนพวก Night Watch ก็ต้องดื่มน้ำสีแดง(เลือด)ของพวก Day Watch เท่านั้น ดื่มเลือดอย่างอื่นไม่ได้ ในเรื่องจะแบ่งเป็น 2 มิติ มิติของโลกมนุษย์ กับมิติของผู้มีพลังพิเศษ ตัวเอกเป็นผู้มีพลังพิเศษประเภทตาทิพย์ มีคำทำนายแต่โบราณไว้ว่าจะมีผู้ที่ทำลายสมดุลมาเกิด และเด็กคนนั้นไม่ว่าเลือกเข้าฝ่ายไหน ฝ่ายนั้นจะชนะ

ในปี ค.ศ. 1930 ที่เมืองฝอซาน มณฑลกวางตุ้ง ยิปมัน เป็นยอดฝีมือมวยหย่งชุน แต่ยิปมันไม่ได้รับใครเป็นลูกศิษย์หรือเปิดสำนักสอนกังฟูเหมือนเช่นคนอื่น ๆ ในฝอซาน ที่ต่างเปิดสำนักกังฟูกันจนเอิกเกริกทั้งเมือง แต่เขาปรารถนาที่จะอยู่อย่างเรียบง่ายกับ อาเจิน ผู้เป็นภรรยา (สง ไต้หลิน) และ อาชุน ลูกชายวัย 5 ขวบ เท่านั้น ยิปมันและภรรยาต่างได้รับความนับถืออย่างยิ่งจากชาวเมืองฝอซาน จนกระทั่ง อาจารย์เลี่ยว ปรมาจารย์กังฟูมาขอท้าทายฝีมือด้วย ยิปมันก็เอาชนะได้ในที่สุด รวมกระทั่งการเอาชนะ จินไท่หยวน นักเลงจากต่างถิ่น ที่ยกพวกมาข่มเหงชาวฝอซานถึงกับที่ด้วย
