มาตี้ต้องย้อนเวลาเพื่อไปตามด็อกเตอร์บราวที่ติดอยู่ในยุคคาวบอยกลับมาสู่ช่วงเวลาปัจจุปัน ทำให้เขาได้พบญาติบรรพบุรุษของตัวเองในยุคนั้นด้วย แต่แล้วพลังงานของเครื่องย้อนเวลารถยนต์เดอลอรีนก็หมดลง ทำให้ด็อกเตอร์บราวต้องใช้รถไฟเป็นเครื่องย้อนเวลากลับไปสู่เวลาปัจจุปันอีกครั้ง ทว่าพวกเขาก็ต้องเจอกับปัญหาที่ค้างคาไม่สามารถกลับมาได้ง่าย มาตี้ต้องดวลปืนกับนักเลงคาวบอย เพื่อไม่ยอมให้ตัวเองถูกจดจำว่าเป็นคนขี้ขลาดที่สุดในยุคนั้น ส่วนด็อกเตอร์บราวก็พบกับรักแท้ที่ไม่อาจปล่อยเธอจากไปได้ ทำให้เขาทั้งคู่ลังเลที่จะกลับสู่เวลาปัจจุปันในปี 1985 ปีเดียวกันกับที่หนังภาคแรกฉายนั้นเอง
