Seven teenagers and three teachers from a Welsh school visit Russia in a bid to rediscover themselves. On the overnight sleeper service to St Petersburg the students get separated from the teachers, which allows the students ample scope for rediscovery.

Sera and her little sister Carys come to the city to look for work. Sam Crosby, an odd man, offers them work and accommodation and soon they are in the grip of very dangerous men. Who is Sam? What is Mordecai's plan? And the biggest question of all - will there be Christmas this year?
