Ex-Green Beret en Vietnamveteraan John Rambo zit inmiddels al drie jaar vast in een kamp waar hij zware arbeid moet verrichten als straf voor de gebeurtenissen uit 'First Blood'. Zijn voormalige kolonel Trautman komt hem opzoeken met een aanbod: of nog vijf jaar zware arbeid, of een missie in Vietnam om een aantal Amerikaanse krijgsgevangenen te lokaliseren. John kiest voor het tweede. Hij komt onder commando te staan van Murdock, een man die niet het beste met John voorheeft...

In het jaar 1982 strandt een buitenaards ruimteschip boven Johannesburg in Zuid-Afrika. De aliens worden ondergebracht in een vluchtelingenkamp, District 9, dat al snel in een getto verandert. Twintig jaar later wordt door het particuliere bedrijf Multi-National-United (MNU) een plan opgesteld om de ‘garnalen’, zoals ze denigrerend worden genoemd, naar buiten de stad te herplaatsen.

Tien jaar in de toekomst moet het elite korps dat bekend staat als G.I. Joe het opnemen tegen de kwaadaardige organisatie Cobra, onder leiding van de Schotse wapenhandelaar Destro. Het elite G.I. Joe team gaat met futuristische spionage en militaire apparatuur de strijd aan met de corrupte Destro en de steeds gevaarlijker wordende organisatie Cobra om de wereld te redden van totale chaos...

In een futuristische toekomst is Groot-Brittannië een totalitaire staat geworden. Tegen deze achtergrond wordt de jonge vrouw Evey van de dood gered door een gemaskerde man, beter bekend als "V".

Een huurmoordenaar die werkt voor 'The Agency' en wiens naam alleen bekend staat als Agent 47 komt terecht in een politiek complot. Hij wordt achtervolgd door zowel Interpol als het Russische leger terwijl hij door Oost Europa heen trekt.

Weerdeskundige Jack Hall waarschuwt met weinig succes voor de invloed die de opwarming van de aardbol zal hebben op het klimaat. Wanneer het noordelijk halfrond van de planeet daadwerkelijk het slachtoffer wordt van tornado's, overstromingen en gigantisch lage temperaturen wordt hij eindelijk serieus genomen. Terwijl het zuiden van Amerika in aller ijl wordt geëvacueerd, wordt de noorderlingen geadviseerd binnen te blijven, en op het beste te hopen. Hall besluit naar het noorden af te reizen om hier zijn zoon te vinden, die samen met enkele medestudenten gestrand is in een bibliotheek.

1962, gedurende de Koude Oorlog. De stomme schoonmaakster Elisa vindt op een dag samen met haar collega Zelda een visachtig creatuur waarvoor ze snel empathie voelt. Dit wezen is de laatste van zijn soort en wordt door de Amerikaanse overheid bestudeerd om eventueel te worden ingezet in het leger of in de ruimtevaart.

Een student breekt, zonder het zelf te weten, in in de centrale computer van het Amerikaanse leger. Daar denkt hij spelletjes te spelen tegen de computer. Maar deze spelletjes zouden weleens het begin kunnen zijn van de Derde Wereldoorlog.

In de nabije toekomst wordt de wereld geplaagd door een totale onvruchtbaarheid van het menselijk ras. Sinds 2009 zijn er geen kinderen meer geboren. Dan komt het schokkende nieuws dat de jongste persoon op aarde - die achttien jaar is - gestorven is. Er ontstaat complete chaos, en een voormalig revolutionair wordt ingeschakeld om de meestgezochte persoon op aarde te beschermen: de laatste zwangere vrouw.

De anti-Ching patriotten, onder leiding van Ho-Kuang Han hebben hun basis in Kanton, vermomd als schoolmeesters. Tijdens een gewelddadige aanval weet Liu te ontsnappen en legt zich toe op de martial arts teneinde wraak te nemen.

Oost Berlijn, 1984. Glasnost is nog heel ver weg, de bevolking wordt onderdrukt door de Oost-Duitse geheime politie (Stasi). De Stasi wordt alom gezien als een van de meest effectieve inlichtingendiensten ter wereld. Het doel van de Stasi: alles te weten komen. De succesvolle toneelschrijver Georg Dreyman (Sebastian Koch) en zijn geliefde, de actrice Christa-Maria Sieland (Martina Gedeck), zijn sterren in de DDR. Maar hun acties en vooral gedachten zijn niet altijd in lijn met de ideologie van de socialistische heilstaat. De minister van Cultuur is erg geïnteresseerd in Christa-Maria en geeft Stasi-agent Wiesler (Ulrich Mühe), alias HGW XX/7, opdracht de twee af te luisteren. Boven hun appartement, op zolder, luistert hij dag en nacht hun leven af. Maar hoe meer hij in hun leven wordt gezogen, des te meer moeite heeft hij zijn loyaliteit aan de staat te behouden.

Een vertegenwoordiger van een buitenaards ras dat een drastische evolutie heeft doorgemaakt om haar eigen klimaatveranderingen te overleven, Klaatu (Keanu Reeves) komt naar de aarde om de mensen in te lichten, hoe slecht hun planeet er aan toe is. Klaatu, die reeds een negatieve indruk van het menselijk ras heeft, wordt opgesloten door de Verenigde Naties. Daarop besluit hij dat de mensheid moet worden uitgeroeid om de aarde te redden. Dr. Helen Benson (Jennifer Connelly) en haar stiefzoon Jacob (Jaden Smith) proberen Klaatu ervan te overtuigen dat het menselijk ras wel degelijk bestaansrecht heeft.

Als een medewerkster van congreslid Stephen Collins dood wordt gevonden volgt een lang onderzoek. De vrouw blijkt de maîtresse te zijn geweest van de politicus. Onderzoeksjournalist Cal McCaffrey en zijn vrouwelijke collega Della Frye storten zich op de zaak. Er lijkt zich echter een probleem voor te doen. De vriendschap tussen Collins en McCaffrey lijkt een steeds groter struikelblok te worden tijdens dit onderzoek.

Twee tegenpolen, de "open-minded" Fox Mulder, en de sceptische Dana Scully, werken al enkele jaren bij de FBI aan de X-Files: onopgeloste zaken met een bovennatuurlijke tintje. Door de constante conflicten die ze hierbij hebben met hun superieuren zijn de X-Files onlangs gesloten, waarna Mulder en Scully op een bommelding gezet worden.
