Futuristic prospective series pilot, a distant cousin the 1975 theatrical violent sport movie "Rollerball," revolves around a turn-of-the-millennium family on the Great Eve (the night before the year 2000 begins) planning for a reunion. Son Richard Beymer is an inventor working with prosthetic devices to help young athlete brother Drake Hogestyn perfect his game of combat hockey to maintain his skills as a national hero, and Cristina Raines is a socially conscious doctor who wants nothing to do with their prideful father, Bert Remsen, to the distress of their loving mother, Priscilla Pointer.

Blair, Tootie, Natalie, Jo, Beverly Ann, and Andy visit the land down under. Blair and Jo are warned of a planned jewel heist; Beverly Ann visits a beau from many years ago; Natalie is stranded in the outback; and Tootie meets a Yale student who pretends to be a young Aborigine.

New York urologist Harold Lear gets a taste of his own medicine when he suffers a heart attack and is confronted with a medical institution which doesn't seem equipped to help. Wife Martha steps in to fight the system and get a measure of service and compassion. Ultimately the greatest battle is not waged against the medical profession, however, but against Lear's own failing body and his own mortal fears.
