The film revolves around the life of Tarak, a foley artist of Bengali film. Tarak's job is to create ambient sounds for films, but, he gradually gets trapped in his own world, a world full of sound.

Indrajit is a UK based scholar. While working to preserve historical documents he find a parchment from which he learns about treasures hidden in an old palace in Simulgarh, a village of West Bengal. Indrajit comes to the village, finds out the treasure, but, a local goon Gagan Sapui accuses him of robbery, beats him up and expels him out of the village. Sapui wants to melt those coins to make new jewellery. After being beaten up, Indrajit goes to forest near the village where he meets Chhayamoy, a benevolent ghost. After listening the incidence from Indrajit, Chhayamoy decides to teach him a lesson.

The movie is about a poet and singer Lalon Fakir who belongs to a cult called baul and who believes and inculcates that the value of a human being is above the narrow belief of religions.

A citified executive meets an idealistic journalist who challenges his values as he negotiates with tribal peoples to acquire their land for mining.

The Sanyals are a large extended family composed of the nonagenarian grandfather (Haradhan Banerjee), his son (Ranjit Mallick), daughter-in-law (Laboni Sarkar) and their children of whom two, a daughter (Koel Mallick) and a son (Rishi Kaushik), live together in a mansion in Bhawanipur. There seems to be more servants in their house than family members, extending the virtues and parameters of the ideal ‘joint’ family. The film starts with everyone being excited about the return of the elder son (Babul Supriyo) from the U.S., where he had gone for work. However, all hell breaks loose when he returns with a wife (Rituparna Sengupta) and her child from a former marriage in tow.

Shubhankar is an honest police inspector who is an encounter specialist. He is posted in Sundarpur in North Bengal, which is ruled by various mafias.
