Filmas galvenais varonis ir astotās klases skolnieks Petja Kopeikins jeb „bēdīgi slavenais huligāns”, kurš pēc skolotājas domām sabojā skolas lugu „Sirano de Beržeraks”, jo viņam nepatīk, ka viņa klasesbiedrs, teicamnieks Fjodors Lastočkins, var spēlēt Sirano lomu.
