Poo Pootha Nandhavanam is a Tamil film directed by B. V Balaguru starring Saritha, Sridhar in the lead roles.

A young budding writer is shunned by his village for his lack of skills to do ordinary jobs. He meets a new innocent girl in the village and they both understand each other. Howevevr the villagers' narrow-minded attitudes, traditions and customs seperate the lovers and they have to fight the system if they have any chance of living together. Sixteen-year-old Mayil is secretly loved by her handicapped cousin, Chappani, and the village rowdy, Parattai. But, she falls for a city doctor who takes advantage of her and deserts her. Gradually she realises how much Chappani loves her meanwhile, Parattai also eyeing for Mayil.
