尾張の織田信長は、格好ばかりで「大うつけ」と呼ばれていた。この男の元に嫁いできたのは、「マムシの娘」と呼ばれる男勝りの美濃の濃姫だった。権威を振りかざし尊大な態度で濃姫を迎える信長と、臆さぬ物言いで信長に対抗する濃姫。敵対する隣国同士の政略結婚という最悪の出会いを果たした二人は、性格も真逆で、お互いを出し抜いて寝首をかこうと一触即発状態、まるで水と油のような関係だった。 そんなある時、強敵・今川義元の大軍が攻めて来る。圧倒的戦力差を前に絶望しかけた信長であったが、彼を奮い立たせたのは、濃姫の言葉であった。二人はともに戦術を練り、激論の末に奇跡的勝利を収める。真っ向から対立していた二人はこの日から次第に強い絆で結ばれ、やがて誰も成し遂げたことのない天下統一へと向かっていくのであった──。

戦国時代にタイムスリップした高校生サブローは、くしくも自分と同じ顔をした織田信長と出会い、信長として生きることになった。だが本来の歴史通りなら、まもなく信長には最期の時が訪れるはず。そんな中、信長を恨む秀吉は暗殺を企て、明智光秀となってサブローを見守る本物の信長も、嫉妬から寝首をかく機をうかがいだす。サブローは運命にあらがって生き抜くことを決意し、本能寺で愛する帰蝶と結婚しようとする。
倉本繭子は、会社の倒産を機に恋人の吉岡恭一にプロポーズされ、恭一の両親の住む京都へ向かう。京都に着いた繭子は、路地裏にある“本能寺ホテル”に導かれ、気が付けば1582年の本能寺にいた。繭子は現代と1582年を行き来しながら、織田信長や森蘭丸と交流を果たす。その日は信長が暗殺された本能寺の変の前日だった。
時に1575年（天正３年）、長篠の戦いで甲斐の武田勢を破った織田信長は、翌1576年、その天下統一事業を象徴するかのごとき巨城を、琵琶湖を臨む安土の地に建築することを決意。設計及び現場の総棟梁として、熱田の宮大工・岡部又右衛門を総棟梁に任命する。「安土の山をまるごとひとつ、三年で城にせよ。」信長から直々の厳命を受け、後に行われた指図（図面）争いにおいても、金閣寺を建立した京の池上家、奈良の大仏殿建造を担った中井一門を破った又右衛門は、妻・田鶴や娘・凛、門下の大工たちの支えを得ながら、徐々に築城を進めていく。しかし、巨大な城を支えるためにはその主柱（大通し柱）に、これまでになく巨大な檜が必要であった。理想の木材は木曽上松にあると踏んだ又右衛門は、意を決して信長の敵方・武田勝頼の領国に危険を顧みず分け入っていく。一方、安土の作事場では新たな戦乱の暗雲が立ちこめ、又右衛門の帰還を待つ大工たちに戦地への出立を余儀なくさせる。
山岡荘八の長編小説『織田信長』を「百万両五十三次」の結束信二が脚色し「いろは若衆 花駕籠峠」の河野寿一が監督した時代劇巨編。父の死から桶狭間の戦まで、織田信長の半生を描く。 父の葬儀に荒縄を腰に巻いた姿で現れた十六歳の織田信長は、抹香を位牌に投げつけた。世間からは狂人とののしられたが、妻の濃姫だけは信長の頬を伝う涙を見逃さなかった。濃姫の父である美濃の斉藤道三は信長に面会を要求してきたが、信長はこれを拒否し「うつけもの」の仮面をかぶり続けた。しかし最愛の家臣だった平手政秀が自害したことから、信長は一転して面会を受諾、礼装し千人の軍を率いて道三を圧倒した。しかし突然、今川義元が四万もの大軍を率いて尾張領に攻め込んできた。それに対して信長軍はわずか五千。今川軍はすでに桶狭間まで迫ってきていた。

French chef Ken travels back in time to Sengoku period. Due to traveling through the time slip, Ken has lost his memory, but still retains his knowledge on fine cuisine. Thanks to his excellence in cuisine, Ken eventually becomes the chef to powerful daimyo Nobunaga Oda.

Is it better or worse that many of his fellow warriors also seem to have been reincarnated in canine form – and that his enemy looks like he lucked out and got to be a human?
The series is a historical drama aesthetically and boldly adapting the life of Oda Nobunaga in his teens up to his time as a warlord against his brother, Nobuyuki.

Now filming has begun on a historical drama directed by the real Nobunaga that is "ridiculous but all true"!
