يروي الموسيقار أنتونيو ساليري (إف موري إبراهام) من داخل إحدى المصحات العقلية وعلى مسامع أحد القساوسة عن علاقته بالموسيقار الراحل وولفجانج أماديوس موتسارت (توم هولس)، حاكيًا عن مسيرته الموسيقية المذهلة التي أبهرت الجميع من حوله، وغيرة (ساليري) الشديدة منه، بجانب رغبته الدائمة في أن يكون في مثل عبقريته وألمعيته .
